How It Started
The narrative below is from one of our members who felt a calling from God to unite Americans in prayer.
A few weeks ago I reached my limit. I decided I couldn't keep listening to the news and then going on with life like all this craziness wasn't happening. I began praying that God tell me my role in trying to fix our world's problems.
It didn't take long. A night or two later, I woke up at 2 am and couldn't shake the idea that I was supposed to unite people to pray for our country. The message below is my response. I posted it on social media, but social media doesn't stand for the same things we do and it didn't travel far. Will you please join in and help spread this to others?
It seems like there's a lot to disagree about these days.
Can we agree on this?
Members of the human race have more similarities than differences.
Can we agree on this?
There are a lot of current events happening that are extremely concerning, terrifying really.
Can we agree on this?
The problems seem so large that it feels like no single one of us, and no small group of us can even begin to make a difference.
Can we agree on this?
When we look around at our local hometowns and cities, they looks very different from the America we are shown on the news. They look a lot better, in fact.
Can we agree on this?
We are lucky to live in a land that grants us so many privileges and freedoms that WE WOULD NOT HAVE if we happened to be born onto a different piece of soil somewhere else on this planet.
It's hard to know what we can do to make a change, but we can all do something. Let's try this.
Set an alarm on your phone to go off every Monday at 6:30 pm. Set it NOW, because you'll forget about it later. When that alarm goes off, take 10 seconds, 10 minutes, or however much time you have, and PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY.
We are SO lucky to be able to worship freely, and recent current events make it obvious not everyone is so lucky. We must do SOMETHING, and we can all do this.
Are you not the praying type? Try it once or twice and BELIEVE what you're saying. It could be life changing.
Let's pray for:
*Healing of our nation and world
*Coming together of those on opposite sides for the greater good
*That our leaders act justly, and with the best interest of our people and nation
*That we can show love, not hate, to one another
*Protection of our freedoms and the principles on which our country was founded
*Determining what role you as an individual can play in all of this
Want to help reach others? On Monday, before you pray or when you're done, create a social media post with #nationalhourofprayer and share it.
We can make an impact if we join together.
Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken
Are you in? Is your alarm set? Let's see how far this can go. Feel free to copy and paste.
